Just Call Me Miss Frugalista

I love decorating. I love using paint to spruce things up. And, most of all, I love saving money! If you put those three thing together you get this.....

EEeeeeee! I know...isn't she cute? I love her. She came from an antique book called 'Kitty's Journey' my mother salvaged at a yard sale in the 80's. Now who the heck would get rid of such a cute book? Beats me.

I think she needs a name. Hmmm...I know. Let's call her Bedelia. Yep, I like it!

Bedelia didn't always live in such a cute frame though, let me tell ya. This is what it looked like before she moved in.

*YAWN* Boooooring! It definitely needed sprucing up, so I splashed a pretty red base coat on.

Next came the crackel paint. You can get this type of paint at any craft store (A.C. Moore, Michael's, Walmart, etc).

After that, I let it sit and dry for a while. I decided it would be a good idea to eat my leftover pizza. It worked out well :-). After finishing my pizza I applied a white coat on top of the crackle base.

Ooh I love me some crackle paint. It gives a nice vintage feel to just about anything. It wasn't looking distressed enough for me though, so I took a piece of sandpaper to that baby!

See? There we go, now we're talking! One last little embellishment...

...and Bedelia was officially ready to move in!

I think it suits her well. What do you think?

Well, you can buy it off my Etsy when its up and running, Rae! Or I could just walk it across the street to you. Whichever's easier. LOL.

Oooh, I love it! I need someone like you in my house to help me decorate! Seriously! In our house, my husband has all the interior ideas and I just constantly clean! (because our house is ALWAYS a mess!) I will be checking your blog out more often!

That is lovely! Coming over from The Shabby Chic Cottage and so glad I did. I love your frame and the fact that it came from the dollar store!

Happy new follower!

You are right, Bedelia is just lovely. And so is her new home. I have never worked with crackle paint, but seeing how cute this turned out, I must go and hunt for crackle paint. Immediately.

Just love what you've done with the frame...that is one of my favorite things in the world to do...taking a simple item from the DT or DStore...and making it something awesome...keep the projects coming! Stop by for a visit sometime! God bless you, Robyn

Laurie, you know the hubby would never allow anyone such as Bedelia in this house! HIS personal taste just won't allow it.

Bedelia is offended by your husband's poor tastes, Rae. haha
