Paper Clips and Dreams

I bought these adorable curtains about a year ago from Target, at $25 a piece. I know, how ridiculous! I would never pay that much money for curtains these days.

I realized I could have easily just bought some fabric from JoAnn's and made them myself. It would have been a lot cheaper that way too.

As much as I like them, they just don't "do it" for me in the living room lately. So I bought some pretty new fabric and decided to do a window mistreatment. Down came the curtains...

This is what the finished product turned out to be...

Not bad, huh? I think it turned out pretty cute! They were insanely easy to put up too. All I did was thumbtack a yard of fabric up like such...

Next, I gathered both sides of the fabric by using baby pins. I used a little plastic hoop to join all of the individual baby pins together.

I did the same baby pin gathering effect in the middle, as well. I wanted to give the curtains a "scalloped" kind of look.

I gotta tell ya, I'm really happy with the end result. Especially because it only took me about 20 minutes total. Nice!

My sister thought they turned out really cute too. When she saw them she said, "Aww, your curtains are so cute! How did you get them to stay that way? To which my husband replied, "Paper clips and dreams, Becky...that's how she gets them to stay up that way."

Everyone cracked up. You see, I'm the type of person who uses sewing needles to hang my pictures up around the house with. Yep...I totally use sewing needles if I don't have a nail. I don't know if it's laziness or my frugal side? Maybe it's both?

I can't believe I'm admitting that I hang half of my pictures on needles. How ridiculous, haha. Either way I think my "paper clips and dreams" curtains turned out great. :-)

Oh, and don't worry--I didn't get rid of the other curtains. They found a happy new home in my bathroom. I still love them, I just wanted to move them so they would catch my eye again. I think it's important to keep your decorations switched up, don't you? That way you'll never get bored with them.

I love love LOVE both sets of your curtains -- old and new. No more posting about them @ 1:25am, though. ; ) And, I think paperclips and dreams work well, personally; it's your style. : )

MAJORLY cute curtains. :) Your family might call you cheap, but I say it's genius! Cute fabric too. I wanted to thank you for stopping by my blog the other day. I've been out of town and am just now having the chance to return the favor. :) Have a great week!
