~ Chalkboard Loveliness ~

Can I just say how MUCH I love painting things? Seriously, what's not to love about it? You start out with something you don't quite like and get a brand new ________ (fill in the blank) when you're done!

It's cheap, fun, and easy. Paint is my kinda re-do

Another gal sharing my passion for paint is Maryann over at Domestically Speaking. She's just all around awesome. I love being a part of her "Power of Paint" Linky parties, and I love her blog even more. You're going to flip out when you see how amazing her piece for this weeks post is! So heres a shout out to you, Maryann. Thank you for all of your fabulousness!

I had been wanting a little chalkboard for my kitchen for quiet some time. Luckily, I scored one for FREE a few months back. Being the silly girl that I am, I stuck it in a closet and completely forgot about it. What was I thinking?!

Anyway, here's the before...

Cute, but in some desperate need of some paint, right? Well, maybe not desperate need, but hey...I just told you how much I liked painting, didn't I?

I painted it with a pretty shade of blue first...

Don't ya just love craft store paint? It comes in so many different colors and is very easy on the wallet.

After the blue, I added a layer of crackle medium, then a fresh coat of white paint. The last step taken was scuffing up the edges with sandpaper, then a little glaze for the finishing touch.

Ooh look at that crackly goodness!

Below is the finished product...

Can't quite see all of the detail in this terrible photo (working on that, sorry), but you get the overall idea. So, what do you think? Me likee. Me likee A LOT :-).

Expenses:  Chalkboard: Free
        Paints: $3
               Sandpaper: $2

Total Cost: $5
Not bad!

Thanks for your comments on my blog, Laura. Blessings for your day. Cute blackboard and well done! I think I have three of the same lurking in a drawer somewhere. After VBS I'll have to find them--I'm thinking Christmas in June. (Smile)

Your chalk board looks great. I love the idea. I usually just write myself notes on the bathroom mirror with a dry erase marker :( I had to go check to make sure, yep, I just bought a bottle of Jamaican Sea!

Hi Lovely Little Laura! OH, you did a wonderful job on your little chalkboard! Paint really does give us the biggest change, doesn't it? I'm not familiar with the painting lady so I'll have to go over and check out her blog.
Thank you so much for popping in to see my little tiny Carter!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Oh, nice job. I usually think crackled paint is overdone, (as in...they crackle it too much....) but I think you did it just right here. That blue peeping out is quite nice :)
